Kyle Power – Parachute Medical Squadron

Kyle Power Corporal Power K-M-144 Parachute Medical Sqadron (Volunteers) died on 14th August 1991 as a result of a road traffic accident whilst on duty. He was the only son of Sergeant Power of the 17th-21st Lancers and his mother Carol a Wren, who worked in the Manchester City Hospital.

Kyle was born 26th May 1972, at BMH Hanover West Germany and was educated at All Saints School Mansfield. He joined the TA where he achieved a Silver Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

He proceeded to Manchester University and gained a degree in Envirinmentral Management. He loved being in the army and enjoyed outdoor pursuits, climbing and rugby. The photo shows his delight in his achieving his first parachute jump and golding the pull cord. Carol remembers him as a happy, loving son who was full of funand very close to his sister Claire.

Kyle died in hospital at Manchester following the accident and is buried at Tithe Green Cemetary. He is remembered at the National Arboretum Stafordshire and the Roll of Honary inside St Mary’s Church Edwinstowe.
