Old St Mary’s Vicarage – N of Church Pre-1900

A Terrier (Survey) in 1759, when Anthony Reynolds was vicar a full description of the Glebe lands was written, ” site of a new vicarage house, new buildings, one new barn and stable adjoining gardens and yards belonging thereto, also, a Lincoln Dole as called, £1.6.8d. The 1764, 1770 and 1777 Terriers were very similar but in 1770 the Vicar mentions the new vicarage built in the year 1760. In 1781, Thomas Hurst, Vicar gave a description  of the Vicarage room by room beginning, “One dwelling house of brick covered with tiles consisting of 3 lower rooms, 2 of which are fronting the West whose floors are board.”
